Governance

How the association is registered, organised and held accountable.

Legal status

Volunteers Without Borders – Palestine is a Palestinian non-profit civil-society association registered with the Palestinian Ministry of Interior under the Law of Charitable Associations and Community Organisations No. 1 of 2000. The association distributes no profit: all of its resources are spent on its stated objectives.

How we are organised

  • General Assembly. The highest authority of the association. It brings together the active members, meets at least once a year to approve the administrative and financial reports, and elects the Board of Directors.
  • Board of Directors. Seven elected members who set policy and oversee implementation. Board members serve as volunteers and receive no pay.
  • Executive management. The General Director and the program and international-relations coordinators, who run day-to-day work under the Board's supervision.

Policies

Our work is guided by our by-laws and by internal policies on finance and procurement, conflicts of interest, child protection and safeguarding, a volunteer code of conduct, and privacy and data protection. Copies are available to partners and donors on request.

Financial oversight

The association's accounts are audited every year by an independent certified auditor. The audited statements are presented to the General Assembly and submitted to the competent Palestinian authorities.
