About us
Volunteers Without Borders – Palestine is a registered, non-profit Palestinian civil-society association working in volunteering and youth development. Our office is in Ramallah.
We started from a simple belief: volunteering is not a one-off activity but a way of building people and communities at the same time. Today the association is led by a seven-member board, most of them young people, and around 85 volunteers from different universities and organisations take part in our work — many of them from refugee camps and villages.
We work with local and international partners on human rights, refugee rights, anti-discrimination, the inclusion of people with disabilities and youth motivation. Our volunteers have represented Palestine at international youth seminars and camps in France, Denmark, Norway, Morocco and Tunisia.
Our vision
A Palestinian society led by young people who take initiative, live volunteering as an everyday value, take pride in their identity and are open to the world.
Our mission
We empower young Palestinians through volunteering, leadership training and cultural exchange, so they can serve their communities — especially refugees, children and marginalised areas — and protect Palestinian heritage, in partnership with local and international organisations.
Our goals
- Spread a culture of volunteering among young people and raise awareness of its value across all age groups.
- Develop young people's leadership, entrepreneurship and communication skills through non-formal education.
- Support refugee communities and marginalised areas with volunteer initiatives that meet real needs.
- Protect and promote Palestinian heritage and culture — dabkeh, music, embroidery and handicrafts.
- Build bridges of cultural exchange between young Palestinians and their peers around the world.
- Network with local and international organisations to advance human rights, refugee rights and the inclusion of people with disabilities.
Our values
- Volunteering and giving We give our time and effort without expecting anything in return, and see giving as responsibility and belonging.
- Initiative We encourage young people to turn ideas into action that serves their community.
- Inclusion Our doors are open to everyone, regardless of gender, religion, disability or where they live.
- Transparency and accountability We are open about how we manage our resources and decisions, to our members and partners.
- Belonging and identity We are proud of Palestinian culture and heritage and work to pass it on.
- Partnership The greatest impact comes from working together with local and international communities and organisations.
